About the Client

Our client, an established manufacturer of electrical and automation components, sought to enhance its digital offering with an IoT platform. This platform enables users to seamlessly collect, monitor, and analyse data from devices and systems across multiple locations and geographies.

The Brief

The IoT platform was designed to serve two primary user groups: technicians responsible for device setup on-site and clients requiring actionable insights from the data these devices generate. The platform needed to provide a seamless and intuitive user experience while being scalable to accommodate future products or functionalities.

The client approached Bokaap Design to:

Understand Users and Tasks

Map user roles, workflows, and challenges to create optimised user flows for various actions on the platform.

Simplify Device Onboarding and Setup

Ensure technicians could easily add and configure devices on-site without unnecessary complexity.

Design a Scalable, User-Friendly Interface

Create a platform that is easy to navigate for all users while remaining flexible for future growth and enhancements.

Our Approach

Our approach centred on user-focused research to understand the processes and challenges faced by both technicians and clients. By analysing technicians’ tasks during setup and clients’ interactions with the platform’s data, we developed intuitive user flows that addressed their needs.

The onboarding process was streamlined with clear instructions and logical workflows, ensuring quick, error-free device configuration, even for complex setups.

The platform’s interface was designed to be scalable, supporting future products and features, while maintaining a clean, user-friendly experience that is easy to navigate for users of all technical backgrounds.

Technician Apps and Outcome

The IoT platform features dedicated technician apps that provide on-the-go insights and streamline operations. These apps empower technicians to monitor device performance, receive real-time updates, and perform diagnostics directly from their mobile devices. The apps improve efficiency and ensure timely issue resolution by enabling quick access to critical information, even in remote locations.

As a result, the IoT platform delivers a seamless and efficient solution for device setup, monitoring, and maintenance. It empowers users to make informed decisions with real-time data insights.
